36"/30" Induction Cooktops
Fits all of our needs.
I have worked in Food Service for many years and have worked with both gas and Induction burners during that time. I always found the induction hubs to be as good or better than the gas burners. For large volume production the induction burners are not offered in an institutional format and thus are not seen in kitchens except for the individual burner units. When we decided to renovate our home kitchen the move from electric to Induction was an easy one to make as gas was not an option where we live. We had also decided to eliminate stainless steel as one of the materials used in the remodel. We were excited to be able to order an all black model ("36") as well as a the corresponding downdraft with a black cap. The unit has performed even better than I expected and its appearance and controls fit in well with the rest of our kitchen. Induction cooking, in a home setting, is superior to any other method. To have infinite temperature selection, fast cooking times and instant temperature control are all features that cannot be beat. The need for special pans for us was not a problem as most of my pans will work on the induction stove. My only complaint, and it is minor, would be that the glass surface requires a little more clean up effort to make it look great. Having said that, cleaning a gas burner is a real pain and on an electric stove I am not sure how many people regularly clean the dip pan below the burners. We would have also liked to flush mount the unit to the countertop. (A non-recommended procedure with this range.)

Cosmetic or Quality ?
We have had the Renaissance Induction Range (RR30NIFS) unit for 6 months. It is great a great unit... fast cooking, super oven, easy to clean, intuitive, sleek design.
However, several complaints. First is the front touch pad- expect to accidentally activate buttons while learning over the unit. Not a huge issue, but annoying.
Next item is the stainless on the top of the unit. Be careful, it is easily scratched by the bottom of a pan. Again, not critical, but unfortunate because it really detracts cosmetically.
The last concern is the most important. Our glass top developed a crack after only 6 months use. This was not the result of a dropped pot, but appears to be heat related. This is especially surprising since we only use Dacor provided cookware. We contacted Dacor expecting it to be quickly covered under the 1 year warranty. To our surprise, this is not covered and is considered a cosmetic item. Expected better coverage from what we considered top of the line product.

Chef Hubs dream cooktop!
My husband is a chef, and this is absolutely his "dream" cooktop! He has cooked on many different kinds of stoves & cooktops, and this is his favorite! He far prefers an induction cooktop, although it does require using specific pans. The design of this stove is excellent, with a number of burners in different sizes
