This is a very easy and less expensive version of the famous honey-baked ham, with a spiced twist.
Ingredients
- 7-8-pound half ham, partially cooked*
- About 40-50 whole cloves
- 1 tablespoon Scott's Foods Strictly Pepper Seasoning (any pepper spice seasoning will work)
- 2/3 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup honey or dark corn syrup
- * You can also purchase a fully cooked 5-pound presliced ham. Your cook times will still be about 10-11 minutes per pound then follow the glazing instructions above.
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325°F on Convection Bake™ and adjust oven rack to position 2, counting up from the bottom. Line the bottom of a roasting pan with foil (don't skip this step, as the honey will be really hard to remove once it cooks.) Place ham on a V-shaped rack in a roasting pan cut side down. Score the ham and stud with whole cloves.
In a small sauce pan, melt butter. Add pepper spices and brown slightly. Add corn syrup and honey, and stir with a whisk until fully blended. Place on a low simmer and hold as you glaze the ham throughout the cooking process.
Brush glaze over ham and bake for 1 hour 30 minutes, or about 10-11 minutes per pound. Every 15-20 minutes into the baking process, brush more glaze liberally over the ham. Allow to sit about 10 minutes before carving, slice and serve warm.
