Fiftieth anniversary allows family-owned company to look back - and forward
LOS ANGELES, CA - Continuing the legacy of its founder, Stanley Joseph, Dacor®, the leading manufacturer of ultra-premium kitchen appliances, celebrates to years of American entrepreneurship and innovation in 2015.
"The ultra-premium kitchen market is continually evolving," said President Joseph. "Our goal is to design and manufacture products that will remain relevant and useful to the home chef over the next half-century. For example, our Discovery iQ™ products enable customers to wirelessly update their appliances with new features as we introduce them."
From its roots as an inventive appliance maker to its current status as an industry leader in design and technology, Dacor has remained committed to its core values of family and service while continuing to introduce industry leading, American-made products to the market. Like the progeny of other innovative high-tech brands and products, Dacor products continue to be designed and manufactured in California, which is unique in this ultra-premium appliance category.
Dacor CEO chuck Huebner agrees. "As a design and technology-focused appliance manufacturer, we've spent 50 years re-imagining what is possible," said Huebner. "What really sets us apart, though, is that we temper our design to innovate with the insistence that every new feature must truly matter to the home chef. The result is that all of our products enhance and elevate the culinary experience."
Founder Stanley Joseph already held two patents - for the first indoor electric barbecue unit and a self-contained combination ventilation hood and warmer - when he founded Distinctive Appliances, Incorporated, better known as Dacor, in 1965. Stanley Joseph passed the leadership of the company to his sons, Stanford graduates and Vietnam War veterans Michael and Tony, who led the company through its rapid growth and expansion throughout the 1980s and the '90s.
For his contributions to the industry, Stanley Joseph was inducted as a charter member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) Hall of Fame in 1989; his sons were both inducted in 2004, making them the only family with three NKBA Hall of Fame inductees.
Now in its third generation as a family-owned business, Dacor is ushering in a new era of innovation with President Steve Joseph. Under his leadership, Dacor leads the industry in smart, connected kitchen trends and luxury design performance.
"Guiding Dacor towards the future while following in the footsteps of my grandfather, father, and uncle is a humbling experience," said Steve Joseph. "Our success is a direct measure of our associates, customers and suppliers that have been a part of the Dacor family over the past 50 years."
Dacor will kick off its 50th anniversary celebration with an exclusive party at the Residences at the mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas during Design and Construction Week. Additional Golden Anniversary events and campaigns will continue throughout 2015.
